Reliance Petroleum have become a corporate partner of the New South Wales State Emergency Service. An agreement between the SES and Reliance was signed in June 2008. Under the agreement, Reliance will provide the SES with funds towards the purchase of 40 GPS units annually for use on SES floodboats.

The GPS units will enable floodboats to navigate floodwaters more accurately, permitting more ready location of of people requiring rescue or resupply of essential items, and greater volunteer safety.
