In Times of Crisis was written by former SES Deputy Director General Chas Keys as part of the SES' 50th anniversary celebrations in 2005.
The book provides a unique insight into the operation of a largely volunteer based emergency service. It tracks the evolution of the service from its early civil defence role through to its present day position as a modern emergency service organisation. Along the way the book is packed with anecdotes, stories and fascinating glimpses of the many roles undetaken by the SES volunteers as they have responded to floods, storms and other disasters.
Copies of the book are $39.95 and may be ordered online from Focus Publishing.
