Stockland has made a $200,000 contribution to the State Emergency Service (SES) in the Hunter Region, in recognition of its relief efforts following the storms in the Newcastle and Hunter region over the weekend of 9-10 June 2007.
Stockland currently has more than $900 million invested in residential communities and retail properties in the Newcastle and Hunter area, including three of its biggest shopping centres (Stockland Green Hills in East Maitland, Stockland Glendale and Stockland Jesmond in Newcastle) and future residential communities Darcy’s Peak, McKeachies Run and Lochinvar with further land holdings in Maitland.
John Schroder, CEO of Stockland's Retail Division and Michael Corcoran, GM of Stockland's NSW Residential business said Stockland decided to make such a significant contribution to the region in recognition of its commitment to the local community.
"The Hunter and Newcastle region is one of our biggest growth areas and we have a long history in the community. Many of our customers and employees have been severely impacted by the storms and flood waters in the area."
"We felt that given the extent of the devastation and the significant long term damage to so many properties and infrastructure in the region, the State Emergency Service needs support from corporates to ensure they can continue to provide the urgent relief and rebuilding efforts."
