Unit Training

The Australian Council of State Emergency Services (ACSES) Acticards website is a portal where volunteer trainers can go to find hundreds of electronic activity cards.

Acticards can be used by trainers to practise skills and knowledge within the SES operational context and to assist in making training relevant and interesting.

The Acticards are self contained and provide a scenario or simulation with all the information a trainer needs to run the activity such as:

  • what national unit of competency the activity is linked to
  • what equipment is needed
  • how to run the activity
  • how to debrief the activity
  • pictures, graphics and downloadable training aids

An SES trainer can access the site to read or download the Acticard for a training session they are going to run at their unit. They can also comment on Acticards they have used, submit Acticards for training that has worked well at their unit or share ideas on a bulletin board with other SES volunteers throughout Australia.

Access to the Acticard portal is quick and simple using the online registration process.

The ACSES Acticards portal will allow a much higher level of cooperation and interaction between trainers, throughout Australia, which in turn will improve the quality of the training and practice.

The NSW State Emergency Service encourages all trainers to use and contribute to this excellent resource for all members.
