Roles of the SES: Land Search

The SES is often called upon to assist the Police in searches for missing persons or evidence of crimes.

When people go missing, the Police often request the SES to provide teams of volunteers to assist in conducting a search. Volunteers are given special training to assist them in safely conducting such searches.

In addition to searches for lost or missing people, the Police sometimes ask for the SES to assist with searches for evidence of crimes. Again, SES volunteers receive specialised search training.
